The Power of Being Grateful, positives thoughts for women entrepreneurs

The fourth Thursday of November is a reminder of the importance of being grateful. The Thanksgiving celebration is just an excuse to stay positive and be more aware of the valuable things we have.

Although it is a tradition mostly celebrated in the United States and Canada, it has become popular in other parts of the world by embracing this culture in each country that recognizes the value of the simple but powerful fact of saying thanks.

Thanksgiving Day was born as a celebration to thank for the harvest and what was achieved during the year, and even though we may not take it literally in these modern days, it fits perfectly as an analogy of the achievements we have made and that undoubtedly is reason enough to pay tribute.

In addition to the tradition of gathering as a family to sit around the table, it is the right time to evaluate the things we have achieved through the year, ponder the objectives and learnings achieved, and most important, set new goals and create an action plan to close the year and prepare for the one that is about to start.

Inspire yourself in the penultimate month of the year, pre-Christmas period and in the spirit of reinventing yourself now that the year is about to end. It doesn't matter if you practice any religion or if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, remember that gratitude is a daily exercise of awareness.

Popular practices such as Mindfulness have made a lifestyle focused on the present fashionable, without judging or rejecting the situation we are facing, either good or bad. Being thankful for the present without becoming attached to it, being aware of what we do and feel.

But if you think that meditation and mindfulness are not practices that fit you, then we will share simple exercises or practices that will help you to stay positive, be more grateful and to take advantage of their benefits in order to be more productive and focused.

 Being Grateful

Gratitude exercises to conquer everything

  • Be thankful every hour

Start by thanking for something every hour, from the moment you wake up and throughout your day. It does not matter what your routine is: if you work from home, at the office, or if you study or do sports. The idea is that you get used to being thankful even for those things we take for granted. Things like: the bed in which you wake up, the water you bathe with, the food on your plate or having a new day to work for your goals. If necessary, set up reminders with an alarm, the ultimate goal is to make gratitude a habit.

  • Gratitude inventory

If you are one of those who likes to make lists, this exercise is perfect for you. It consists of listing 100 things that you feel grateful for, you can divide your list into categories such as personal attributes, people in your life, experiences or things you have. But do not stop there, be thankful for something new every day, either verbally or written.

  • Keep a diary

You can adapt this exercise as you want, the real goal is to write at least one thing for which you are grateful at the end of the day. You can do it as a list or if you like to write, you can be as descriptive as you want. Writing is also therapeutic: it helps to reduce stress, communicate better and be more conscious.

  • Be thankful, plan, execute, repeat

This is undoubtedly my favorite exercise. It is like a combination of the previous exercises, the difference is that once you have made your list and gratitude inventory, you should keep an inventory of your goals for the semester or year: ¨What did you achieve? What did you learn? What do you need to reinforce? And what will you do from now on?"

The important thing about this exercise is that it will allow you to take advantage of this information to plan your next steps with clearer objectives and processes. If you do it by the end of November it is a great opportunity to plan your job and personal objectives to strategically start New Year the best way possible.

Always give back to others

Gratitude must be translated into actions that help us to give back to others all that makes us feel happy, to help the world to be a little better each time. Be aware of the power of the word thank you, not only when you pronounce it for yourself, but also when you say it to others.
